I’m still alive!
The bulk of my Japanese translation time in the past year has been focused on a few pieces by the East Asia Anti-Japan Armed Front, a Japanese terrorist organization active in the early 70’s. I’m in the last stage of my first draft of my essay about them, and I plan to have that completed and the whole piece published by the end of March.
In anime-related news, I’ve got a couple of projects lined up for the near future:
Anata no Yami Chinjufu 2: After months of combing the internet and finding nothing I finally got my hands on a hard copy of this doujin. Fortunately there’s a Chinese translation already up on e-hentai so I should be able to just scrub the text and replace it with English. The third in this series has been (poorly) translated, and though the raw has been uploaded as well I imagine it would be bad form to translate it myself. The first has yet to appear online or on Mandarake.
Virtual Youtuber stuff: I’ve been reading an issue of Eurika magazine with a bunch of analysis on Vtubers – it’s been quite interesting, and I might translate a few pieces from there as well as some stuff from the issues of Vtiq (Comptiq’s Vtuber magazine) I have on my shelf.
Ponzu Ame stuff: I still have a bunch of physical copies of this guy’s work that’s unscanned, and unfortunately no-one else seems to feel like scanning it either. I don’t feel like destroying my copies, but I may be able to scan one or two and still have both the doujin and the images come out okay, so this is still up in the air.
No promises on when any of this stuff will move, but Yami is my priority as my reward for wrapping up all this serious writing so look forward to that in the spring! I’ll also be posting one translation from Eurika on here this week!
